Performance comparison: foam and rinsability
Innospec conducted comparative testing between ‘The Precious Pup’ and a market-leading label-free pet shampoo. The tests measured foam generation, foam decay and rinsability.
Both products produced similar foam volumes and decay rates. However, ‘The Precious Pup’ required less water to rinse, indicating faster rinsing and reduced contact time. This improves grooming efficiency and enhances comfort and well-being for pets.
Formulation tips and market insights
Fast-rinse formulations are gaining popularity in both personal and pet care sectors. They offer benefits such as reduced wash time, improved fragrance retention and enhanced mildness due to shorter contact with the skin.
Key formulation considerations include:
- Aligning pH with pet skin, typically between 6.2 and 7.4.
- Selecting preservatives effective within this pH range.
- Using rheology modifiers for viscosity control, as salt thickening is not suitable for low-surfactant systems.
